Bayard C. RAILEY, died Thursday, April 30th, at his home in McHenry. Death was very sudden. He was unmarried and was a brother of Slick RAILEY. Mr. RAILEY was aged 58 years, 3 months and 8 days.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday morning at 10:00 o'clock with Rev. Clarence FRAKER officiating. Interment was in the Thayerville cemetery.

Jefferson L. RALSTON was found dead in his bed at the Bishoff House last Friday morning. A well-known commercial traveler, death was attributed to natural causes.

Mary Eloise RATLIFF, 60, Oakland, formerly of Moorefield, W.Va., died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 1995, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland. Born May 2, 1935, in Moorefield, she was a daughter of the late Gilbert and Myrtle (GROVE) ROBINETTE. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl D. RATLIFF, in October 1974. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving are three sons, Chris E. RATLIFF, Douglas E. RATLIFF, and Carl David RATLIFF, all of Oakland; two sisters, Mildred R. VETTER, Oakland and Emogene KITE, Fairfax, Va.; and five grandchildren. CARLTON DENNIS REALL, 41, died Wednesday morning, December 16 at his home in Gorman, where he has resided since January. Prior to that he spent nine years in the Army, having enlisted in 1944. Most of his tenure of service was spent in Japan and Korea.
He was a son of the late HARRY M REALL and BESSIE (HUTTON) REALL and was born at Mt Storm W. VA.
Besides his mother, he is survived by six brothers and sisters: DOYLE REALL, Cleveland, Ohio, T/SGT HOBERT REALL, Army Air Force in England, MISS HAZEL REALL, MISS BETTY LOU REALL and MRS MARY JANE ANTHONY, Gormania and MRS MARYLIN PAWELCZYK, Baltimore.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Methodist church in Gorman at 2 pm Saturday with interment in the Pope cemetery. Ag

CHARLES WALTER REAM, 56, prominent in business and fraternal circles in this county, died about 8:30 o'clock Monday evening at his home in Crellin, following an extended illness of several years. For the past several months MR REAM was confined to bed during which period he suffered several heart attacks which weakened him and was the ultimate result of his demise.
MR REAM was born in Mt Lake Park on September 13, 1882, a son of RICHARD and the late CATHERINE WEISS REAM. For a number of years he was engaged in the lumber business, being associated as superintendent for the Kendall Lumber Company whose operations years ago, and later became engaged in developing and mining coal properties near Crellin and in W.VA.
He was well known throughout Maryland and W.VA in coal mining circles and at the time of his death he was a member of the Bituminous Coal Commission of W.VA district No. 3 first vice president of the Preston County Mining Institute and president of the Stanley Coal Company, which he actively directed until stricken a few months ago.
MR REAM was married twice, first to MISS IDA M LEE who died in 1925 and to MISS ROSALIE CLICK, principal of the Oakland Elementary School, who survives as also do four children by his first marriage, HAROLD, ERVAL and ALVIN, all of Crellin and MRS HARVEY MUSSARD, of Oakland. In addition, he is survived by his father, RICHARD REAM, of Mt Lake Park and GEORGE of Indiana, PA MRS ALBERT BIGGS, Mt Lake Park, MRS FRANK GORTNER of Mason ILL.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Union Church in Crellin with the REV ROY SHAFFER, Clarksburg W.VA., officiating, assisted by the REV E.A. CRITES, pastor of the United Brethren Church of which faith he was a member since early childhood. Interment will be in the Oakland cemetery with the Knights of Pythias Lodge in charge.

RECKNER, MRS. ARMINTA BRENNEMAN
Mrs. Arminta (BRENNEMAN) RECKNER passed away at Confluence, Pa., on Wednesday, March 24th, after a long illness. She was 69 years, 5 months and 27 days old at the time of her demise. Mrs. RECKNER was a daughter of the late Joel and Catherine BRENNEMAN, early residents of Garrett County, and lived in the community, near Bittinger section, until several years ago. Many years ago she was married to Charles RECKNER and eight daughters were born of the union. One daughter preceded her in death twenty-four years ago. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, the following daughters; Mrs. C.C. SHAW and Mrs. Clyde BOWLIN, of Confluence, Pa., Mrs. William SCHAEFER, of Grantsville, Mrs. Kimmel SILBAUGH, of Ohiopyle, Pa., Mrs. Dewey SLUSS, of Baltimore, Mary and Hazel RECKNER at home, and one foster son, Edward MCCRAKEN, of New Jersey. Also surviving are two sisters, four brothers, twenty-two grandchildren and a host of friends. While Mrs. RECKNER had not made her home here for several years, the many friends she made, both in this and adjoining communities, during her residence here recall fond memories of her friendship and regret to learn of her passing. Mrs. Arminta RECKNER united with the Lutheran Church at Bittinger at the early age of 15 years. On May 21st, 1933, however, she joined the Methodist church at Johnson Chapel, near Confluence, Pa. Funeral services were held at the Johnson Chapel Methodist Church on Saturday, March 27th, at 2:30, with Charles Humbert in charge of arrangements, and the body was laid to rest in the Johnson Chapel Cemetery. Her foster son and five of her nephews acted as pallbearers.

RICHARDS, REV DR T.D.

Funeral rites for the late REV. DR T.D.RICHARDS, a retired cleric of the Presbyterian Church, who died last Thursday at his home in Cumberland, at the age of 81, and who was a summer resident of Mt Lake Park for many years were held Saturday.
DR RICHARDS has been ill for two years or more and was unable to occupy his cottage at the "Park" during that period because of his physical condition.
He was a native of Buck Valley, PA, a son of the late JOHN T and MARTHA M RICHARDS. Previous to studying for the ministry, he taught school for several years at Catalpa, a few miles west of Hancock. A graduate of Wooster University and Princeton Seminary he became pastor of the Neelsville Presbyterian Church, near Gaithersburg, MD where he remained for thirty years and was his only charge.
DR RICHARDS had much to do with the early development of Mt Lake Park as one of the directors of the Mountain Lake Park Association. It was just two years ago. August 31st, 1936 -- that DR AND MRS RICHARDS celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their cottage at the "Park".
He is survived by his widow and two sons, THOMAS LOHR RICHARDS and WILLIAM CARL RICHARDS, both members of the Allegany County Bar. A third son DR DAVIS NEEPER RICHARDS, who was a 1st Lieutentant in the Medical Corps, died Oct 12, 1918, the day his unit sailed for France. He was superintendent of the Montreal Maternity Hospital.
DR RICHARDS was laid to rest at Warfordsburg, PA near Hancock, MD where his son was also buried. Ag

ANNA BELLE WOLFE RILEY born February 25, 1856, died April 29, 1937, was age 81 years, 2 months and 4 days. She was united to the Brethren Church, January 5, 1887 by BROTHER DIGMAN at Pine Grove. She was united in marriage to JAMES RILEY, January 16, 1875, to which union eight children were born, three boys and five girls.
She leaves surviving her husband three sisters, MINNIE BURCH, JENNIE COPMAN, and SADIE METZLER, and two brothers DANIEL and AMOS WOLFE all of whom are living. Three sisters preceded her in death. MARY FORMAN, BERTHENIE WILBUR and EMMA LISTON.
Children surviving her are AMOS RILEY, Lake Lynn, PA, EMMA BURKE, Uniontown, PA, MARGARET UPHOLD, BLANCHE SISLER, and VERNA SISLER of Friendsville, MD. Three children preceded her in death, CHARLES RILEY, WILLIAM RILEY and GRACE RILEY. 24 grandchildren and twenty one great-grand children.
Funeral services were held at the Laurel Run Church, REV GEORGE VAN SICKLE officiating. Interment was made at the Johnson cemetery.

Nina Olive RILEY, 96, Oakland, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 1995, at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland. Born Jan.16, 1899, in Swanton, she was the daughter of the late Charles O'Brien and Melissa (GLOVER) O'BRIEN. She was also preceded in death by her husband Jasper W. RILEY, in 1992. She is survived by four daughters: Nellie FLETCHER; Beltsville, Evelyn MARTIN and Arletta BITTINGER, both of Oakland; and Betty CUDDY, Washington, D.C.; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great and great great-grandchildren. At her request, she has been cremated. A memorial service will be at a place and time to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of Durst Funeral Home, Oakland. Ruby FIKE RODEHEAVER, age 22 years 3 months and 11 days, died at the Uniontown Hospital on Wednesday morning, October 24, 1934, where she was admitted on Friday, October 19, 1934. Mrs. RODEHEAVER was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Milton FIKE of Garrett County, and was born near Friendsville, on July 13, 1912. She was graduated from the Friendsville High School in 1928 and from the Frostburg State Normal in 1930. She taught four years in the Garrett County public schools. She was married to Ray RODEHEAVER of Hazleton, W. VA. on February 4, 1933. Survivors beside her husband include: her father and mother, three sisters, Mrs. Freeman BOWSER of Accident, and Beulah and Bernice at home, and one brother, Glenn. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at 2:30 for SAMUEL RODEHEAVER, 82, who died at the home of his son, LONNIE RODEHEAVER, on Route 219 near Sand Flat on Wednesday morning. Death occurred as the result of a heart attack while he was taking milk to the highway to be loaded on a truck.
He was the son of the late SAMUEL and MARY ANN RODEHEAVER and was born in Garrett County March 3, 1867.
He was married to ELVIRA CROSS in 1887 and to this union three children were born. Surviving are MRS HARRY PAUGH, Oakland and LONNIE RODEHEAVER, Sand Flat: three grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a brother PATRICK RODEHEAVER and a sister, MRS EMMA MILLS, Oakland.
MR RHODEHEAVER was engaged in farming. He was a member of Paradise U.B.Church from which place funeral services were held in charge of the REV GEORGE W SIMPSON. Interment was in the Rodeheaver Cemetery near Sand Flat. Ag

MRS KITTIE B SMITH ROSAMOND passed away at the home of her daughter, MRS BURT KING of 3517 Bryn Mawr, Dallas, TX. on June 21st 1938.
MRS ROSAMOND was formerly MISS KITTIE B SMITH adopted daughter of MR and MRS LEVI HEWITT of Loch Lynn Heights, MD. She was united in marriage of number of years ago to MR BUD ARNOLD of Gortner, MD., residing at that place a few years, and then going to Denver CO. for the health of MR ARNOLD. MR ARNOLD passed away shortly after arriving at Denver and MRS ARNOLD and her two children, RAYMOND and GOLDIE returned to Garrett County where they made their home for a short while. They then went to Texas where several years later MRS ARNOLD was united in marriage to MR W.J. HENDRICKSON. To this marriage one daughter was born. MARY MARGARET. Several years later her only son, RAYMOND ARNOLD passed away in Texas. Later she married W.J.ROSAMOND and was known as KITTIE B ROSAMOND.
She leaves to mourn her death two daughters, MRS MARY MARGARET HENDRICKSON ADAMS of New Mexico and a foster brother, LESTER YUTZY, of Crellin, MD. MRS ROSAMONDS' only brother MR JOHN SMITH died several years ago in Texas. Ag

Catherine Anna ROSS
Mrs. ROSS slept away peacefully, Friday morning at 12:30 o'clock, Sept. 27th, 1935. She was almost 81 years old, being born Oct., 188, 1854. [date as printed in newspaper]
At the age of 17 she (then Miss UMBLE) married James ROSS, of Midland, Md. They had eleven children, of whom five are still living.
One brother, Harvey UMBLE, of Umble and two sisters, also remain. There are eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mrs. ROSS was for many years an active member of the Methodist Church of Midland.
Services were held in the M. E. Church at Midland, and interment at Vale Summit Cemetery.

JAMES ROSS
James Ross died at his home at New Germany on Thursday March 6th, of pnuemonia, after an illness of several weeks, aged 64 years. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and two sons and one daughter. Mrs. Roy McKenzie, at home, Lewis of Barton, and Charles, of Jennings, besides a host of other relatives and friends. He was a faithful member of the Reformed Church. His funeral occurred on March 8th, with interment in the New Germany cemetery where his pastor, Rev. Ira S. Moon conducted brief services at the grave.

Funeral services for David O. ROTH, 69 of Oakland, who died Monday after being stricken by paralysis at a reunion Sunday, was held yesterday at 10 a. m., at the Red House Lutheran Church, near here.

PAUL ARTHUR ROTH, 58, farmer died Wednesday at Eglon following a long illness. He was born at Eglon December 8, 1893, and was a son of PRISCILLA (WOTRING) ROTH and the late WILLIAM E ROTH of Terra Alta.
Survivor, other than his mother, are his widow, the former LELA PARKS; six sons, DARRELL ROTH, ROBERT ROTH and COLEMAN ROTH, all of Morgantown; DOYLE ROTH Bedford, Ohio; DALE ROTH, Eglon; RONALD ROTH, Camp Gordon, GA. ; also four daughters, MRS LOIS POWELL, Aberdeen, MD; MRS KATHERINE GOODALL, Harrisburg, PA. MISS NORMA and MISS MARLENE ROTH, at home.
Also surviving are two brothers EARL ROTH, Horse Shoe Run, CARL ROTH, Kingwood: one sister, MRS ADA MARKWOOD, Terra Alta, and fifteen grandchildren.

MRS PRISCILLA ROTH, 90, widow of WILLIAM E ROTH, died last Friday night, May 29, at the home of a son, EARL F ROTH, N Third Street, Oakland, with whom she had been residing for the past two weeks.
Born December 17, 1862, in Preston County W.VA. , MRS ROTH was a member of St Paul's Lutheran church at Aurora. MRS ROTH was the daughter of the late HENRY G and SUSAN LANTZ WOTRING. Before coming to Oakland she had lived for four years with a daughter, MRS C.E. MARKWOOD, Terra Alta, W.VA.
Survivors include another son, CARL ROTH, Kingwood, a sister, MRS MARTHA CHIDESTER, Piedmont, W.VA.; 21 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.

MRS ALICE AMELIA ROWAN, 61, wife of JOHN J ROWAN, of Loch Lynn Heights, two miles east of Oakland, died suddenly of a heart attack Sunday morning. She was a daughter of the late JACOB and ANNA MOON.

RUSH
Asa H. RUSH, Friendsville, a son of Clark and Cary E. RUSH, was born May 16, 1889 and died April 21, 1935 at the age of 45 years, 11 months and 5 days.
The deceased has been in failing health for the past sixteen months, prior to which he had been active in the public welfare of the community. He was converted in his early teens, was baptized and united with the Baptist Church. He was married to Miss Iva C. FRIEND, December 15th, 1912 and to this union were born three children: Mildred Aleta, Oliver Karol and Cora Jean. All three survive; also his mother, his widow, one sister, Mrs. Cora TURNEY, Accident and one brother, James C. RUSH. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 23rd in
M. E. Church, Rev. R. L. MANESS officiating, assisted by Rev. KRIEBEL of Confluence, Pa.
Interment was in Blooming Rose cemetery. Pallbearers were Ernest and Lawrence FRIEND, Howard SKIDMORE, James H. FIKE, Quincy MURPHY, and James B. FRANTZ.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth HUMBERSON RUSH was born January 13, 1866, departed this life January 28, 1936, her age 70 years and 15 days. She was married to Clark E. RUSH, December 18, 1887. They had one daughter and two sons and one foster daughter namely Asa H. RUSH, deceased, Mrs. Cora RUSH TURNEY, James C. RUSH, and foster daughter, Mrs. Edna STRACK, also surviving, two sisters; Mrs. Alice GUARD and Mrs. Lydia SAVAGE, two brothers; Hiram and Frank HUMBERSON, and eleven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the M. E. Church at Friendsville on Thursday afternoon with Rev. R. L. MANESS officiating. Interment in the Blooming Rose Cemetery. Mb

Elmer RYBAR, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. John RYBAR, caretakers of the Deer Park Hotel, died at the home of his parents. He is survived by his parents, and three brothers: John, Robert and Francis. The body was taken to Braddock, PA. for burial. Mb
