WILLIAM D. CASTEEL, 84, died in Garrett
Memorial Hospital. Born here July 24, 1895, he was the son of
the late William CASTEEL and Anna (BOWSER) CASTEEL.
He was a motorcycle policeman for the Maryland State Police, was
elected Garrett County sheriff from 1925-29 and served as a deputy
under the administration of four sheriffs. For a short time he
also served as chief of police here, was a member of the Republican
State Central Committee, the county liquor control board and an
organizer of the Garrett County Historical Society and Museum.
He was one of the first real estate agents in the county; working
for Adams and Adams Realty.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home. The service
was conducted by Rev. Ellis Harvey; interment in the Oak Hill
Cemetery.

CALVIN CODDINGTON died suddenly at his home
at Friendsville, Sunday morning, April 4. He was a lifetime resident
of Friendsville.
Services were held from the Savage Funeral Home in Friendsville,
with interment in the Friendsville cemetery.

WALTER CODDINGTON, died at his home in Friendsville,
January 9, 1944, at the age of 74 years, 2 months, and 6 days.
He was born in Friendsville, lived most of his life in that community.
He engaged in farming until about twelve years ago when he retired.
He was a member of the Methodist church. A son of the late Jonathan
and Mary (RYLAND) CODDINGTON he was the last surviving member
of his family, one brother and two sisters having died in 1931.
He is survived by his widow, Nettie FRAZEE CODDINTON and the following
children; Earl, of near Friendsville; Herbert, Pittsburgh, Pa.;
Walter, Jr., Uniontown; Laura CODDINGTON, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Mrs.
Cora DEWITT, Friendsville; Mrs. Carrie HILEMAN, Warren, Ohio;
Mrs. Mary FRIEND, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Jessie HEPP, Pittsburgh. Three
sons are deceased. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and
six great-grandchildren. Three of the grandsons are in the service,
one grandson, 2nd Lieut Paul FRIEND, having served 11 years in
the standing army. He was killed in an anti-tank accident at Fort
Bragg, N. C. Sept. 30, 1941.
Services were conducted at the home, with Rev. R. L. Greynolds,
Ridgeley, W. Va., officiating. Interment was in the family lot
at Addison, Pa., cemetery.

MARTHA VIRGINIA JENKINS CONN, 78, died March
19, at her home in Markleysburg, Pa. Born in Friendsville where
her parents lived, and was the last member of a large family.
One brother, the late Alfred JENKINS of Friendsville died many
years ago. Her husband, John CONN, preceded her in death by several
years.
Services were conducted March 21 in the Asher Glade Church with
interment in the church cemetery.

MRS. VIRGIE H. CONNELL, wife of Richard
CONNELL, formerly of Hutton, died of angina pectoris at her home
in Wilkinsburg, Pa. Born on February 15, 1870, at Accident, the
daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Daniel HINEBAUGH, who during the last
years of their lives resides in Oakland. Prior to her marriage
she was a public school teacher, holding, at that time, the highest
obtainable certificate as a public instructor. While living in
Oakland she was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran church.
Survived by a sister, Mrs. Tangier CLAGGETT, of Pittsburgh, and
two brothers, Henry HINEBAUGH, of Thomas, and Frank HINEBAUGH,
of near Fairmont, W. Va., and by her husband.
Rev. C. A. Shilke conducted the service at St. Mark's church in
Oakland, with interment in Oakland cemetery.

Mary M. Cosgrove
Frostburg - Mary Martha Cosgrove, 73, of Frostburg, died Sunday,
Aug. 5, 2001, at University of Maryland Medical Center.
Mrs. Cosgrove was born Sept. 27, 1927, in Akron, Ohio. She
was the daughter of the late Gorman G. Jenkins and Grace (Broadwater)
Jenkins Long. She also was preceded in death by her step-father,
Clarence L. Long, and one brother, Otis Odell Jenkins.
Surviving are her husband, Francis X. "Jobie" Cosgrove;
one daughter, Dr. Mary Anne Jenkins and husband Brian; one son,
John Francis Cosgrove; one sister, Phyllis Miller and husband
Darius; and two brothers, Paul Jenkins and wife Alice, and Wayne
Jenkins and wife Doret, and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cosgrove was a homemaker and member of St. Michael's
Catholic Church.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P. A.,
60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday
from 4 to 8 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's
Catholic Church on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Father Paul
A. Byrnes as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
SHIRLEY Y. CRAVER, 50, of Swanton, died
March 18, at her home. Born July 22, 1935 in Maysville, WV, she
was the daughter of Benjamin KLINE, Maysville, and the late Delsie
(Mc DONALD) Kline. She was a member of the Swanton Otterbein United
Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and was church organist
and pianist for the past 12 years.
Harry E. CRAVER, her husband, died in April 1985.
She is survived by: her father, one daughter, Mrs. Amanda J. LOUIE,
Deer Park; two sons, Kevin G. CRAVER, Laurel; Brian K. CRAVER,
Swanton; five stepsons, Harry E. CRAVER JR., Mount Morris, PA;
Charles F. CRAVER, Oakland; Ronald E. CRAVER, Morgantown, WV;
Roger K. CRAVER, Deer Park; Richard L. CRAVER, Swanton; three
sisters, Mrs. Bonnie KEPLINGER and Mrs. Betty Jo STRAWDERMAN both
of Maysville; Mrs. Martha B. DOYLE, Rineyville, KY; two grandchildren,
15 step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland. Services
will be conducted at the Swanton Otterbein Methodist Church, by
Rev. Hal Rotruck and Rev. Richard Odgen. Interment will be in
the Maysville cemetery.
