The Alexander Bittinger family cemetery was located on the family farm along the Snaggy Mountain Forest Fire Tower access road off Snaggy Mountain Road north of Hutton, Garrett County, Maryland. In 1891 Alexander Elic Bittinger moved his family from Jennings, Garrett County, Maryland to land that his wife had purchased on Snaggy Mountain north of Hutton. By 1920 the family farm on Snaggy Mountain had been abandoned and the forest that once surrounded it has reclaimed the farm and cemetery. The cemetery was located about a 100 feet from the Bittinger home which stood about 50 feet from the road. The cemetery was originally enclosed by a wooden picket fence and the graves were marked by fieldstones imbedded on edge in the ground.
